A very nice example of German-Austrian motorcycle engineering.
The SGS Puch is a quite unique motorcycle because of it's Split-Single" engine design.
A Split-Single has 2 pistons, 2 cylinder-bores but a single shared combustion chamber.
The pistons are in tandem configuration. The front piston controls the intake and twin exhaust port while the rear piston controls the 3 transferports.
Puch Split -Singles are strong pullers with for a 1950s 250 amazing low-down torque much better than compatible 250 4 strokes.
2.4 kgm at 3.400 rpm compare that with 1.7kgm at 5100 rpm for a R 26 BMW.
This Puch was completely rebuild in 2008 and has done only 300mls since.
It is an easy starter, all electrics work and the bike is ready to rally.
Parts are still readily available from in Austria.
We fitted many new parts like
This bike is in a very nice albeit not concourse condition, there is some minor pitting on the handlebars and some very minor scratches on the headlight rim
Bike comes with workshop and parts manual and also with the toolbox key.
